20. Speaking Up on Racism with Diversity Advocate Fatima Siyawareva

This week’s most welcome guest on The All In Gold Podcast is Fatima Siyawareva. Fatima came to Winnipeg from Zimbabwe on her own when she was just 19 years old to study social work. Since then she’s worked for 10 years as a Mental Health and Diversity Advocate who specializes in trauma, domestic violence, and refugee and immigrant issues, and uses anti-racism and anti-colonial approach in her work. She is also a Lifestyle Blogger by night and is working on setting up her private practice. Fatima is passionate about using her voice to speak up about racism in Canada and is inspired to create a world where her 4-year-old son will grow up in a safe, welcoming, and just environment. She’s also inspired by the young generation of activists who are boldly speaking up about the Black Lives Matter movement. Fatima gives us amazing action tips for learning how to recognize and stop everyday microaggressions against Black people, and how to make changes in our local community that include promoting Black women speakers.
