It’s up to us to find time for our own pleasure. It’s a radical act to serve ourselves up some fun and enjoyment, rather than serve everyone else. Starting our mornings with pleasure will create a day that’s productive but also full joy, wonder, and gratitude for the life we’re living. Clear off your nightstand, lay out your workout clothes, adorn yourself with clothes that make you feel special, and breathe! 19. The Optimistic Business Owner: 5 Tips for Creating Happiness and Success
Monday Jul 20, 2020
Monday Jul 20, 2020
A lot of us get it backward. We think: “When I have more clients I’ll be happy” or “When I launch my product I’ll be happy” or “When I make my projected income, I’ll be happy.” We think we have to wait to be successful to be happy. According to Shawn Achor, author of The Happiness Advantage, and many other positivity researchers, the opposite is the case. Be happy first and the success will follow. I have for sure found this to be the case in my own life. This week’s episode I’m sharing 5 tips on how to bring more happiness into your daily business life so you can welcome in the success you’re looking for with open arms: Choose a mantra (or in my case, many mantras), fuck the past, laugh (a lot), keep a gratitude diary, and read books by inspiring people (bonus points if they’re also funny!)

18. 7 Ways to Listen, Learn & Lead
Monday Jul 13, 2020
Monday Jul 13, 2020
My podcast is about being the best boss of yourself to make the best life for you and your business. Speaking up, being heard, and asking for what you want is a huge part of my platform on self leadership. But today’s episode is about listening - how it is crucial to listen deeply to Black women, women of colour, and indigenous women in doing anti-racist work, so our world and communities can become more just, equitable, and safe for everyone. Listening and learning are important parts of being a great leader. In this episode you will learn: how to pass the mic, google your questions or pay people for their expertise, how to be anxious and do the work anyway, become aware of what voices you are hearing on a daily basis, stop tone policing, interview, hire, and buy from black, people of colour and indigenous businesses, and get prepared to be wrong. Listen up!!

Monday Jul 06, 2020
Monday Jul 06, 2020
There are so many benefits to hosting your own podcast. It helps you get clear on your messaging, elevate your voice and the voices of your guests, helps you inspire people, helps you reach people who don’t like reading blogs or watching video, and gets you comfortable making mistakes and moving forward. One of the most amazing benefits I’ve discovered is the many ways I can repurpose my podcast content into other content: social media posts, my blog, and even live video. All of us benefit from hearing messages repeated until we’re compelled to take action. In this episode, I walk you through my 8 step process for my podcast content creation. Thanks to my assistant Leeann Forbes and my podcasting team from S & S Podcasting with Shalinda Kirby and Natalie Suppes for helping me make this happen! www.instagram.com/sandspodcasting
